The National Anthem
It was the patriot Perucho Figueredo who composed, in 1867, the music of the Anthem. Later, in 1868, when the independence forces seized the city of Bayamo (Granma Province), Figueredo himself wrote the words:

Main Cities
Due to their economic development and population density, the most important are: Havana City, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Camaguey, Cienfuegos, Matanzas, Pinar del Rio, Ciego de Avila, Bayamo and Guantánamo.
